Sarcantay, an infatuating peak, which has never been climbed, (thus they call it "The Untamed One.") has been my far western view from my "Upper Room" window while I have been a missionary, artist/writer, adventurer, and cheese maker in Compone, Cuzco, Peru, a remote rural valley in the Andes mountains. I am especially infatuated with this 21,000ft. peak. Since I been rather "bored" with many years of painting with brushes, I have been painting in Peru with just a knife, and am enjoying painting in a more free impressionistic style; reminiscent of my '"first love" of painting during my high school years where I painted often with knives and thicker paint. This is the beginning of my new series "The Many Faces of the Andes!" I am excited to be able to begin sharing some remote and rare vistas from my South American adventures!
ARTIST BIO Anastasia Ealy has been a New Mexico artist since 1984. She was raised with the love of the Rocky Mountain west, ranching, horses, farm animals, gardening and mountains. Many summer times were spent on the Nebraska family ranch. Her mother was a Creole from New Orleans, Louisiana, of original French and Portuguese,Spanish,Sephardi-Jew, early 1700's Colonial ancestry. This Spanish heritage, and having lived and painted in Calpe, Spain during the 1970's also gives Anastasia a strong affinity to Northern New Mexico.Colonial heritage, and love for it people and landscapes.
