Another fun illustration for my up-coming book, 'Treasures of the Caucasus.' Page 27, in chapter 2: Through two thickly wooded hills he passed, then paused as a faint sound of motion in the brambles caught his attention. Instinctively, he knelt in the snow and crouched. Positioning an arrow silently into his bow, he was ready, poised for action. From his peripheral vision, an immense white stag bounded into view. In a flash of creamy white, Sarkis marveled at the rusty pink nose, sapphire blue eyes, and cloud-like breath billowing from his nostrils. They stared at each other for a moment.
�No matter how hungry you are, this one is special. Let him live this day. I will provide for you.�
The Spirit�s words flooded Sarkis�s mind and stilled his hand. His people�s legends told of magical qualities of the white deer. Blessings came to people who let them live.
About Anastasia Savage Ealy
ARTIST BIO Anastasia Ealy has been a New Mexico artist since 1984. She was raised with the love of the Rocky Mountain west, ranching, horses, farm animals, gardening and mountains. Many summer times were spent on the Nebraska family ranch. Her mother was a Creole from New Orleans, Louisiana, of original French and Portuguese,Spanish,Sephardi-Jew, early 1700's Colonial ancestry. This Spanish heritage, and having lived and painted in Calpe, Spain during the 1970's also gives Anastasia a strong affinity to Northern New Mexico.Colonial heritage, and love for it people and landscapes.
